Brian Harris, Tuesday, 22 January 2013

Our members are Ben Cottter, 15 started at the age of 8 and introduced by his father. He plays 2nd or 3rd in Premier Division. He is also a member of the BV Under 18 Gold Squad.

Brandon Anderson, 17 has played for the past 5 years and was introduced by his father. He plays 2nd in our Premier Division. He is also a member of the BV Under 18 Gold Squad. Brandon has won the Club’s Under 18 Championship 3 times.

Tyson Rufus, 16 another member of the BV Under 18 Squad. Tyson had open heart surgery a couple of years ago to repair his aortic valve and was back playing bowls 8 weeks after surgery. The surgery was a great success. While Tyson was in hospital the Lara members did a whip around and presented him with a cheque to spend on what he wanted. Tyson thanked all for their generosity and bought himself a new set of bowls.

Jack Ray, 15 and Jarrod Johnson, 16 are both keen bowlers. They were both introduced to the sport by their grandfathers.

Jack Havers, 13 only started bowls this season and is a regular player in our Division 10. He was introduced to the game by his father.

Ebony Gordon, 16 is a member of the BV Under 18 Gold Squad.

Katelyn Matthews, 15 is a member of the BV Under 18 Silver Squad.

Sarah Waters, 14 a member of the BV Under 18 Gold Squad has just returned from playing South Australia in Bendigo where she performed very well. Sarah started bowling at the age of 9 by attending our Twilight Bowls, she introduced her father to bowls. Sarah has won the Women’s Club Championship for the 2012/13 season. We believe she could be the youngest in the Geelong Region to achieve this honour if not in Victoria. She was coached in the early years by both Val & Ian Thomas, who are both now retired from active coaching. Gary & Nola Hinch are now coaching our juniors on a Tuesday afternoon.

Another junior who has progressed through our club to the senior ranks is Samantha Shannahan. Samantha has represented both Victoria & Australia over the past few years.
