It is with mixed feelings that the Lara Bowling Club says farewell to our rising star, Ben Cotter. Ben has represented the Lara Bowling Club for 10 years, amazing considering he is only 17 years old! He is moving on to the Metro West Bowls Region team, Altona, to pursue and realise his potential. Everyone at the club wishes Ben the very best for his future endeavours, both on and off the bowling green. We have watched you grow and are proud to have been a part of your journey.
Ben was interviewed by the GBR back in 2011 and was asked: "What do you like about playing bowls?" and he replied, "The concentration. It makes you think and plan what you want to do. It's fun and you meet good people".
He wrote to inform us of his decision, and we would like to share his letter with you all: "Playing for Lara for the last 10 years has given me great memories and friendships which are something that I will never forget and always cherish. After a lot of thought and consideration I have decided that I must leave Lara to allow myself to grow and give myself greater opportunity. I am extremely grateful for everything that Lara has given me and will always think of Lara Bowling Club as my home. I hope that you will understand that I believe that this step is one that I must take in order for me to become the best I can be. Lara is a great club and the people that make this club are even better. I have learnt so much, not only about bowls, but about life which I am very thankful for. I would like to thank everyone for the significant influences that you have had on me which have made me who I am today. I wish you all the best for the future and I'm sure I will back one day. Once again I would like to thank everyone for the great support and guidance that you have provided me with over the years. Kind regards,
Benny, from all of us at the club, we wish you all the very best, and a happy 18th birthday,
