Weekly Round Up 4, 27/2/20106So we come to the end of another pennant home and away season for the Lara Bowling Club. 2015-2016 has been a good one for the club, with great wins, narrow losses and some mixed results recorded across the divisions. We're happy to report that four of our divisions have won the right to contest in this years final series. The Final Four!Division 3 Robert Grosset's rink (Terry Waters, Sheri Tump, and Elke Van Baar) hammered home a 9 shot win. Two rinks tied for shots, Ian Polwarth Jnr's rink (Robert Polwarth, Henry Trusiak, Les Hutchinson, 25-25) and Tony Ansett's rink (Nehill Allwood, Ken Howe and Annette Harris, 21-21) fought hard to earn a point each. Ken Bell's (Peter Hayes, Nick Gallagher and Eugene Marshall) rink went down by 10 shots but a solid overall team effort saw them home 97-88 at the end of play. Having finished top of the division, they've earnt a double chance at the grand final. *Next week they face Clifton Springs at Belmont in what is shaping up to be a great finals bowls match. Well done to all players who have represented Division 3 this year, your collective efforts have been duly noted on the scoreboard and the pennant flag is in your sights. The club is with you in the finals, we will be out in force to support you and we wish you all the best next Saturday. Division 4 Gavin Lane's rink (Jack Ray, Joe McCaffrey and Graham Zanoni) thumped their opposition by 23 shots (44-21) to be the standout rink of the day. Closely followed by Greg Woodhouse's rink (Terry Fish, Tom Seddon and Andy Ferrier) who registered a 16 shot (30-14) win. Ian Polwarths rink (Peter Staggard, Ralph Shannahan and Sam Tennent) fought through to register a 4 shot victory (25-21). It was a see-saw in the ditch rink, but a narrow loss was notched by Drew Hamence's rink (Michael Gale, Les Anderson and Michael Fedyk) with a double toucher in the 23rd end nulling the end and stifling their comeback to go down in the end. With some hard work done and good away victories to the top teams this season, our Division 4's are into the elimination final next *Saturday against Barwon Heads, being played at Highton. As with the Division 3's, our members and supporters will be out to support you next Saturday. Good luck to all players and congratulations for making the final.

Premier League Torquay ended up being the relegated Geelong side, and Ocean Grove failed to make the finals so won't be defending their title this year.
